This print beautifully evokes the moment Wing Commander Leonard Cheshire VC, OM, DSO**, DFC, skillfully manoeuvres his Mk 3 Mustang above the German V1 storage and launch site at Siracourt in the Pas-de-Calais, Northern France, June 1944. He’s beginning to pull out of a low-level dive and facing incoming anti-aircraft flak; he releases his target indicator markers as a force of 17 Avro Lancasters from 617 Squadron draws nearer. With the target site about to be marked, they can accurately deliver their payload of 12,000 lbs Tallboys before the journey home to RAF Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire.
